Le Savoy (For Infants)
A safe and nurturing environment for infant skiers to take their first wobbling turns, this small ski area has 2 basic drag lifts and a rolling carpet and is located in the safety of the valley bottom at 1049m.
Top tip: Kids with some experience but in need of building up some confidence will find Les Chosalets a bit more challenging. The area is easily accessible from the Lognan cable car.
Les Planards (For Beginners & Families)
If you’re an adult beginner, but want to learn at your own pace, then this small ski area is perfect with forgiving green runs to start with and an international standard blue and red run for when you’re feeling confident enough.Top tip: If you get tired of skiing, take a break and go to the nearby piste de luge for some family fun!
La Vormaine (For Freestyle Beginners)
Located at the foot of Charamillon, this sunny ski area boasts a special freestyle zone with 3 modules up and down box, a rainbow box and a slide flat to try your first freestyle moves!Top tip: The area also features 2 green runs and a blue slope as well as a ski-kindergarten, making it ideal as a meeting point for a group of snow lovers with different skills.
Les Houches (For Intermediates)
With 2 green runs, 8 blue runs, and 13 red runs, this area is ideal for confident beginners and intermediates. Advanced skiers can also challenge themselves with 4 black runs including the famous World Cup slope ´La Verte des Houches´. The area also offers a snowpark and a boarder cross run. If that weren´t enough it also boasts an uninterrupted, 360 degree view of the Mont Blanc massif from its summit.Top tip: Every Thrusday from 8 til 10pm you can enjoy free night skiing sessions as well as hot chocolate and wine at the wounderful Tourchet slope!
Grands Montets (For Advanced)
One of the most popular areas in the resort, it also offers the biggest thrills for expert skiers thanks to its wide open black runs and guaranteed snow right until May! Freestyle skiers and freeriders will also find themselves in cloud number 9 here.Top tip: The Mont-Blanc Unlimited ski pass gives you access to the ski areas of Courmayeur (Italy) and Verbier (Switzerland). Please note you will not be able to get to the top of Les Grands Montets with the Chamonix Le Pass.
Brévent/Flégère (For Thrill-Seekers)
Over 56km of pistes, including 7 black pistes and a freestyle area to show off your best moves, makes this massive and varied ski area perfect for those experienced skiers who want to push to the limit.Top tip: On the edge of the Chavanne, you can test your speed on a challenging 500m long slope with a nerve-racking 150m height loss.Certainly not for the fainthearted!
Vallée Blanche (For Offpiste Experts)
This unpatrolled off-piste paradise is a must for any freerider worth his or her salt. But do not be fooled by the gorgeous scenery, this area is known for its glacial crevasses and free riders have died here in the past so it is essential to hire a professional guide.Top tipIf there is an area ideal for shooting spectacular off-piste videos in Chamonix, this is it! The views of the Mont Blanc will leave everyone back home in absolute awe!
