7. Bar Bodega l’Electricitat, Barceloneta
(Sant Carles 15 baixos, 08003 Barcelona, +34 932 21 50 17) On Saturdays and Sunday mornings this classic bar in Barceloneta is filled with people enjoying the traditional Vermut. The owner will always talk you into eating more tapas than you actually want, but that’s also part of the charm of this place. The Martini style vermut is served in bottles so you will pay as much as you think you drank. Price range: €€ Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 8am to 3pm and 7pm to 10:30pm. Sunday, 8am to 4pm
6. Taller de Tapas, Las Ramblas
(Rambla de Catalunya 49-51, 08007 Barcelona, +34 934 87 48 42) A chain of restaurants with this name has outlets all over the city but the one I recommed you to eat in is the one on Rambla Catalunya. The food quality is good in all of them but this location is by far the nicest. The place has been decorated with photos from Woody Allen’s Academy Award Winning “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” as they shot some scenes in the chains outlets. Price range: €€ Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, 8am to 12pm, Sunday 12am to 1am Taller de Tapas
5. Bar del Pla, Born
(Carrer Montcada 2, 08003 Barcelona, +34 932 68 30 03) This traditional place serves some of the best tapas in town. The interior is definitely a Spanish tavern but the food served goes up another level. Its location makes it a must stop on your way to or back from the inspiring Picasso museum. Price range: €€€ Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 8am to 11pm(uninterrupted kitchen) Bar del Pla
4. Fragments Café, Les Corts
(Plaça de la Concòrdia 12, 08014 Barcelona, +34 934 19 96 13) Off the beaten track, but pretty close to Camp Nou lies a jewel for anyone committed to finding the best tapa. Their “risotto falso” (false risotto) will earn a star on your personal favourites list. The garden lounge welcomes anybody planning to have a full meal; otherwise you are restricted to the tables on the square. Great stop before heading to a football match. Price range: €€€ Opening hours: Monday to Sunday: 12:30am to 1am (kitchen only 1pm to 4:30pm and 8:30pm to 12pm) Fragments Café
3. La Bodegueta, Las Ramblas
(Rambla de Catalunya 100, 08008 Barcelona, +34 932 15 48 94) Especially in the summertime, the terrace on the Rambla de Catalunya is an inviting location. In winter time you will enjoy the crowd inside this classic Catalan institution. In former times, people from the quarter came here to fill up their wine jugs from the barrels. Nowadays it serves great dishes and the wine still flows like back then. You must try their “patatas bravas” (country cut potatoes with hot sauce), they are great! Price range: €€ Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 7am to 1:45am Saturdays, 8am to 1:45am and Sundays, 6:30pm to 1:45am La Bodegueta
