Established in 1988, Oxford Sixth Form College is a British co-educational independent college with years of experience in A–level, BTEC and GCSE tuition and an excellent reputation. In fact, the ISI Inspection states that “the college exceeds expectations” and “enables students to make exceptionally good progress”.
The teaching approach is very flexible and different from that of a traditional school as it follows the method practised at Oxford University. Small groups are combined with tutorials and all teachers are university graduates with a great understanding of students’ needs and learning styles.
Vocational aim and favoured degree courses are also taken in consideration to help students create successful syllabuses that will grant them access to Oxford and Cambridge as well as other prestigious British universities.
This is further guaranteed by a comprehensive one-year university access programme and students can take part in mock interviews and admissions tests to prepare their application to the university of their choice.
The college also boasts an art room, a science laboratory, a biology laboratory, and an IT suite.
Outside the classroom, there are various extra-curricular activities on offer, including membership at the prestigious Oxford Union debating society and a wide variety of sports and clubs. The central location of the college also allows students to make the most of the city and enjoy inspiring cultural and social events throughout the year.
When it comes to accommodation, students can choose to stay with a host family (ages 15+), or enjoy a more independent stay at a managed residence (from 15 to 17 years old) or a self-catered residence (ages 18+).
