Location
The boarding school campus is located at Via Colonna Campus in Milan, Italy. While the school is right in the bustling city of Milan, it still provides an enclosed and serene environment as expected of a boarding school.
Overview
St. Louis Boarding School is a yet another educational offering by the St. Louis community. The boarding campus was just launched in 2017 and is all set to host boarders in the age group of 14 to 18. The boarding school is available for both full-time boarders and weekly boarders. The accommodation facilities are purposely built and segregated by gender.
The campus offers a place for about 40 boys and girls to flourish in a holistic educational environment. The boarders in the age group of 14-16 attend the day school at the M. Colonna Campus while the students in the age group of 16-18 complete their International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma) at Via Pantano Campus. This is the top performing IB world school in continental Europe. The St. Louis legacy precedes it as they provide a complete British education and a side stream Italian education to all their boarders. The knowledge and skills the students will learn from their days at Pantano campus will equip them with a strong basis for admissions in prestigious colleges and universities in Europe and all around the world.
Apart from the education offered at the campus, the students have a disciplined schedule for their evenings and weekends. The academic and recreational evening programme is aimed at providing appropriate rest and rejuvenating experience to increase their respective academic performances. This also increases the so-called social quotient of the student towards their fellow inmates and encourages their participation in the boarding school life.
Core Values
St. Louis School of Milan fosters creativity, genuine love of learning, quality and academic success. The school believes students should be treated with tolerance, respect, concern and fairness to help them learn and build mutual trust and appreciation of the rights of individuals irrespective of race, culture and creed.
Academics
The learning experience of St. Louis is no mystery. It is the first school in Italy to get the Eco-school status. The school is affiliated with IB World School and Cambridge International Examinations Centre. The school excels at providing the National British Curriculum and an Italian Curriculum for pupils fluent in Italian. For when you are at St. Louis nothing is more precious as the gift of knowledge imparted daily.
The programme covers a 4-year course including the Cambridge IGCSE for years 10 and 11 and IB Diploma for years 12 and 13. The IGSCE programme provides the student a strong academic foundation to study the IB Diploma programme. The school adopts Apple Mac laptops – “the laptop project” as part of their modern curriculum. The laptops are used throughout the high school on Wireless Internet connection.
Extracurricular Activities
The weekly boarders start on a Monday morning and finish on Friday afternoon; thus, their participation is lesser than full-time boarders when it comes to extracurricular activities. The full-time pupils enjoy a complete range of sports, activities, optional trips, and excursions on the weekends. The fully-equipped boarding campus creates a fully functional living and home-from-home but disciplined experience for all students.
