Castello di Velona Resort, Thermal Spa & Winery is a 11th century fully-renovated fortress located 2 km from the Abbey of Sant'Antimo and 12 kilometres away from Montalcino.

The hotel enjoys a most peaceful atmopshere and enjoys views of Val d'Orcia and endless rolling hills with olive groves and vineyards.

Siena is a 30 minute drive way.

Rooms & Suites

The hotel has 46 rooms and suites cleverly distributed to ensure guests enjoy an intimate stay throughout.

27 rooms are housed in the 10th century castle while 19 are to be found in the new wing of the property, close to the modern spa.

Although the styles are very different – the castle rooms have vaulted oak beam ceilings and the spa room’s travertine and corian tiles, thermal water in the bathroom and outdoor patio – both types of rooms and suites are equally welcoming and feature the latest technology and luxury amenities.

Pools & Facilities

There are 2 outdoor pools with views to the surounding vineyards and the countryside and sun loungers in the nearby deck area.

One of them also features a swim up bar serving light snacks and drinks.

Guests staying at Castello di Velona can’t leave the hotel without paying a visit to the modern 1,500sqm OLI SPA.

It boasts mineral hot springs, 2 indoor pools, 2 Turkish baths, 5 treatment rooms, 1 incredibly romantic couple room, emotional showers, a hydro massage area, a Jacuzzi, an ice fountain, a solarium and a panoramic sauna.

With phytotherapy and aromatherapy treatmentsavailable alongside massages, facials and body treatments carried out with organic products (including wine and olive oil), there really is no excuse to feel stressed.

Food & Drinks

Gourmands are in for a treat at Restaurant Settimo Senso where they can taste Tuscany on a dish; especially if they sit on the panoramic terrace.

The wine list is spearheaded by the hotel’s own produced wines Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino.

Snacks, à la carte light meals and cocktails are prepared in the old-fashioned Velona Lounge.
