What a beautiful hotel you made it really special for my wife celebrating her birthday. All of the restaurants were superb with food to an exceptional standard. Our room upgrade to an Eiffel Tower view was most appreciated. Finally the service was 5 star your staff are really pleasant and welcoming. This is the nicest Shangri-la Hotel we have stayed so far. Thank you
I had the most wonderful time at the Shangri-La in Paris. The staff was beyond exceptional and always attentive to my wants and needs, the location and views were perfect, and the food was exquisite.
When we entered in the room there was a really annoying smell of smoke, as if some guest before us smoked cigars inside. It was really a strong smell. My wife and my daughter didn't like it at all. The staff gently offered the only other equivalent room (the last available junior suite) but it was without terrace, so it was not so exciting: we felt that as a downgrade, compared to the assigned room. For that reason we decided to stay in the first "smoky room", politely asking the staff to try to find a better solution for the second night.
Afterwards I've been contacted by the staff and I was informed that no other rooms were available for the next night, with exception for a "terrace suite" for which, however, I was asked to pay the delta rate.
Well... maybe I'm the only one who thinks wrong, or maybe you are used to relate to different types of guests, but when a guest pays the not indifferent amount of € 1.500,00 per night, he also expects a "special" treatment. Telling him "ok, the room has a problem but the only solution is changing room paying a € 1000/night more... well, this is definitely what I don't expect to listen when I'm choosing a 5-star Shangri La hotel! Suggestion from a customer: you would have made a better impression offering me a free upgrade for the second night, considering the problem was objective, and not a whim of mine!
When I tried for the first time a Shangri La Hotel it was at the Shard in London, in July 2018, with my family and we felt great and really enthusiastic about the special treatment and, above all, the care we felt throughout our stay. This is the reason why I've chosen again your chain also for my special S. Valentine's week-end with my family in Paris. But, if I had to compare the two experiences, honestly I could not say that I was "pampered" in Paris as I was in London. For example, the evening we arrived to the hotel, my daughter was really tired for the travel and we asked to stay for dinner at La Bauhinia restaurant: although we were accompanied by the receptionist, the restaurant manager dryly stated "no way, fully booked"... I thought that guests could have a preferential way to hotel restaurants, but clearly I was wrong. In London we did exactly the same, and they tried all their best to accomodate our requests and know what? They succeeded! In Paris I had to find a take-away restaurant (thanks to the concierge) and arrange by myself my S. Valentine's dinner (in my smoky room!)... well, you perhaps can imagine... not the same feeling, at all.
Concluding, you are now asking me to share my experience. Expectations were very high. The hotel amenities were super; all the staff gentle, but... the question is simple: would I come back again to Shangri La in Paris? Not so sure...
