1. Penha Longa Atlantic South
This fantastic course, designed by Roberto Trent Jones Jr, is built on the grounds of a former 14th century monastery and is part of the Ritz-Carlton Penha Longa Resort Spa & Golf Resort. 2. Penha Longa Atlantic North
This 9-hole course is also the work of Roberto Trent Jones Jr and is the perfect complement to the Atlantic South course. Ideal for a short later afternoon round or to start the golfing career during the holidays, the picturesque setting of the course makes it an extremely attractive choice.

3. Quinta da Beloura
Halfway between Cascais and Sintra this long 18-hole course, designed by American Rocky Roquemore, is part of a private condominium. It is a pleasure to play, with excellent views of the Sintra mountain region. Although mostly flat it requires some accuracy and powerful drives, for example for the long Par 4 hole #18, with its green behind a lake.

4. Quinta da Marinha
Located in Cascais, this Robert Trent Jones course, opened in 1984, forms part of the Estoril Golf Coast, a region on the Atlantic ocean with a variety of courses to play. Golf Quinta da Marinha has repeatedly been the host of Portuguese golfing events, and is a truly challenging course with a couple of interesting Par-3 holes, like #5 and #14.

5. Belas Clube de Golfe
Belas Clube de Golfe is located between Lisbon and Sintra, and was built in 1997 by American designer Rocky Roquemore. Its 18 holes are perfectly embedded in nature in a pleasing layout, but still challenging for both the beginner and the advanced player. The Golf Academy, run by British PGA pro Keith Barrett completes the offer of the course.

6. Oitavo Dunes Course
This outstanding course was built in 2001 by world renowned architect Arthur Hills. It is situated in a natural park between Sintra and Cascais, with sea views and pine forests. Decorated in 2011 again by GOLF Magazine as one of the World’s 100 Best Golf Courses, it is a must for any golf aficionado traveling to Portugal.

7. Lisbon Sports Club
The Lisbon Sports Club is one of the oldest courses in Portugal and originated from the Lisbon Cricket Club. Designed by Hawtree & Sons, the course was opened in 1964, nested in a valley about 20km from Lisbon. The truly challenging signature holes are 169m Par-3 hole #1, another Par-3 – hole #3 – which is considered one of Portugal’s most beautiful holes, and the grand finish, hole #18, a long Par-4 with a meandering fairway and a well-protected green.
